PIKIRAN RAKYAT - The Raudlatul Athfal (RA) Muhammad Ramdhan school building on Jalan Kutaresik Jati, Indihang Subdistrict, Tasikmalaya, collapsed.

An emergency tent has been set up to accommodate 30 people. It will temporarily support the students' teaching and learning activities. The plan is for students to study in the tent until a safe place can be found.

"The tent has been set up and is being used for teaching and learning activities today," said Erik Yowanda, Junior Disaster Management Expert, Tasikmalaya City BPBD on Wednesday, 24 July 2024.

After receiving a report of a collapsed school building on Tuesday morning, 23 July 2024, Erik said that BPBD Tasikmalaya City had already taken action.

He explained that the building had collapsed due to age and decay. The collapsed roof then fell on the learning equipment in the building.

In fact, the reason the building collapsed was because the building was old and rotten," he said.

Shortly after the incident, Erik said a team from BPBD Tasikmalaya City immediately went to the site to help evacuate items or learning equipment that could still be used.

We evacuated items that could be used and set up tents for teaching and learning activities,' he said.

Even the tents are temporary. Currently, his group is working with local government officials to find a suitable place or building for temporary teaching and learning activities.

"Based on the discussion with the village head and the community yesterday, we are looking for a temporary place that can be used for the teaching and learning process," he said.

Meanwhile, the head of RA Muhammad Ramdhan, Ana Yuliana, thanked the local government for responding to the collapsed building and setting up emergency tents.

"Thank you BPBD for facilitating, for lending the tent, for the quick action, the tent was installed immediately," she said.
