Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - The G20 Summit in Bali officially ended, Wednesday (16/11/2022). The Summit, which took place on 15-16 November 2022 succeeded in reaching an agreement called the G20 Bali Leaders Declaration.

"Indonesia's leadership succeeded in producing a declaration by the G20 leaders, the G20 Bali Leader Declaration, which was initially doubted by many. The declaration consisted of 52 paragraphs," said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) in a press conference after closing the G20 Summit, Nusa Dua, Bali, Wednesday (16/ 11/2022)

The Indonesian government is considered successful in running a series of presidencies in the midst of high world geopolitical tensions.

"The implementation, so far, has been successful because it has been running, and there have been several meetings, such as working groups, bilateral and other meetings. From this point of view, it has been successful," said an International Relations Analyst of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Adriana Elisabeth from a broadcast press received by CNBC Indonesia.

"There is an expression of gratitude and respect for Indonesia's leadership for this one year, due to its commitment to improving the economy, health and global climate change," concluded Adriana.

The agreement reached was inseparable from Jokowi's efforts to organize various events on the sidelines of the G20 Summit. This step is considered as part of diplomacy.

One is holding a gala dinner for state leaders and G20 delegations at Garuda Wisnu Kencana Park (GWK), South Kuta, Bali, Tuesday (11/15/2022).

Many other state leaders wore batik. Among others, the President of China, Xi Jinping; Prime Minister (PM) of Canada, Justin Trudeau; Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida; Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi; to the President of South Korea, Yoon Suk Yeol.

At the gala dinner, the invitees were treated to a number of foods from various regions in the archipelago, namely Balinese, Javanese, North Sulawesi, Lampung, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, and Acehnese specialties. For appetizers, the G20 leaders enjoyed the "Aneka Ratna Mutumanikam" dish which consisted of mangoes, seaweed, salad with Balinese rujak seasoning, and Manado crab meat corn cakes.

Meanwhile, Wagyu beef tenderloin typical of Lampung, Padang rendang, cassava and potato mousseline, asparagus in Balinese turmeric sauce, and eggplant balado puree are served as main dishes. For dessert, Indonesia serves Acehnese chocolate mousse, tuille rice, black sticky rice with grated coconut and mango coulis.

In addition to typical Indonesian dishes, leaders of member countries as well as G20 delegations, ministers, and former Presidents and Vice Presidents of the Republic of Indonesia were also entertained through cultural performances featuring a series of compiled traditional dances and songs, digital theatrical projects projected onto the limestone walls. GWK, and performances by musicians Andmesh Kamaleng and RDP Hip Hop Generation.

The event took place lively. The state guests seemed to enjoy it with joy, even though in the afternoon, the discussions at the G20 Summit were heated, one of which was regarding the war between Russia and Ukraine. The country's leaders also spoke to each other on this occasion.

Another form of diplomacy is Jokowi's invitation to all delegation leaders, heads of state and heads of government to plant mangrove seeds in the Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park (Tahura), Denpasar, Wednesday (11/16/2022).

President Jokowi said that as a country with the largest mangrove forest in the world, namely 3.3 million hectares, Indonesia wants to make a major contribution to global climate change.

"This was previously a fish pond area, an abrasive area. Now it is home to 33 species of mangrove trees which are also home to more than 300 fauna," Jokowi explained in a press statement, Wednesday (16/11/2022), quoted from Presidential Secretariat's official YouTube account.

On this occasion, the heads of state who attended took a group photo, wearing white uniforms and happy faces.

During this mangrove planting session, President Jokowi was flanked by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his right and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on his left. Also present were Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

After planting the seeds, President Jokowi then invited state guests to tour the Ngurah Rai Tahura. The delegation leaders exchanged friends to talk. Familiarity and a relaxed atmosphere can be seen as long as they walk around.

President Jokowi, for example, was seen chatting several times with Joe Biden, who was walking in the front row. Behind the two, Narendra Modi also appeared to be chatting casually with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

Jokowi also invited the leaders to see the location of the mangrove seedlings. The President even squatted several times to pick up and show the mangrove seedlings to the guests. After the tour, the President invited the leaders to rest and eat the food provided.

This joint mangrove planting event is a form of joint commitment to addressing global climate change in accordance with the G20 theme Recover Together, Recover Stronger. Mangroves are known to be able to absorb carbon, protect the land from erosion, become a habitat for marine life, and prevent sea abrasion.
