PIKIRAN RAKYAT - MSM (42), a Central Lampung legislative member, has been named as a suspect in a shooting that left a resident dead on Saturday, June 6, 2024. The gunshots were fired as part of the tradition of welcoming in-laws at his in-laws' wedding party in I Mataram Ilir Village, Seputih Surabaya District, Central Lampung.

However, the shot missed and hit a local resident named Salam (32). The victim, who was the uncle of the MSM, died. Following this incident, the perpetrator was arrested by a joint team from Tekab 308 Presisi Central Lampung Police and Lampung Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

“That's right, we have arrested MSM to be held accountable for his actions,” said Adjunct Police Commissioner of Central Lampung Resort Police, Andik Purnomo Sigit.

Andik Purnomo Sigit explained that, aside from arresting MSM, they also secured the evidence in the form of a Zoraki MOD 914-T firearm, one magazine, four ammunitions, one FNC long-barrelled firearm, one magazine, and one green gun bag.

“Then, one HS + magazine, one Cobra Revolver, two magazines, 2 empty boxes, one box of cleaning tools, one Garuda Shooting Club letter, four 5.56 mm caliber ammunition casings and three cartridges 9 mm caliber ammunition," he said.

"All of the evidence were obtained from the results of the crime scene investigation. The joint team searched three houses, including the suspect's house in I Mataram Ilir Village, Seputih Surabaya District and MSM's house on Jalan Cempaka Margorejo Metro Selatan, Metro City, as well as the house belonging to SW, a resident of Bumi Nabung Timur," Andik Purnomo Sigit continued.

Andik Purnomo Sigit stated that the preliminary autopsy results indicated the bullet had penetrated the left side of the victim’s skull (above the left ear) through the interior and the right side of the victim’s right temple.

“We are waiting for the results from the Forensic Doctor,” said Andik.

From the results of the case title, MSM was named a suspect and charged with Article 359 of the Criminal Code and Article 1 paragraph (1) of Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951, with a sentence of 5 and 20 years imprisonment.

According to him, there could be more suspects after further investigation. The resort police force also emphasized that no law enforcement officers were involved in the illegal possession of weapons.

"There was no involvement of security forces from either the Indonesian National Armed Forces or the Indonesian Republic Police," said Andik Purnomo Sigit.

Regarding this matter, he invited and appealed to all people to remain calm and maintain public order and security. “We have secured the perpetrator. We ask the public to remain calm, hand over the case to the police," said Andik Purnomo Sigit.

Meanwhile, the Legal Counsel of the suspect MSM, Dedi Wijaya said that the perpetrator was cooperative. After the incident, his client immediately surrendered himself to the Police.
