PIKIRAN RAKYAT - Grief news enveloped the country, the 9th Vice President of Indonesia, Hamzah Haz passed away on Wednesday, 24 July 2024. Hamzah Haz breathed his last at the Gatot Subroto Hospital, Central Jakarta, died at the age of 84.

The news has been confirmed by a Member of the House of Representatives (DPR) faction of the United Development Party (PPP) Syaifullah Tamliha.

"Yes (the news that said Hamza Haz died is true). He died at the Gatot Subroto Hospital," he said in a short message received by the Pikiran-Rakyat.com Team on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

According to Syaifullah's statement, currently, the body is being taken to the funeral home, in Jalan Tegalan, Matraman, East Jakarta.

Hamzah Haz was once Vice President and served from July 26, 2001, to October 20, 2004. His political career also continued to shine during his tenure as Chairman of the PPP for the 1998-2007 period.

Before becoming Vice President, Hamza Haz was appointed as the Minister of State for Investment or Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) by President Habibie.
